A Day in the Life of an IIT Aspirant

A Day in the Life of an IIT Aspirant

Preparing for the IIT examinations requires a well-structured daily routine that aligns with your examination goals. Let's explore a detailed daily plan that can help you stay focused, motivated, and consistent in your preparation.

Basic Planning and Targets

Success in clearing the IIT examinations starts with basic planning. Set clear goals for every day, and reward yourself for achieving them. It's important to avoid an overly idealized schedule; instead, keep it simple and stick to it. Remember, even if you don't follow the schedule perfectly, staying close to it consistently will yield positive results.

Good Morning!

Let's start with a warm welcome and the first task of the day. As you begin, say a Good Morning to your parents or any motivators in your life. If you live away from your parents, give them a call and express your daily ambitions and goals. While you're at it, do some exercise for a dose of energy-enhancing activities. This small gesture will set a positive tone for the day.

The School of Early Morning

After your morning exercises, sit down with your books. Spend the first 10-15 minutes reading something, be it an organic or inorganic chemistry concept. This will help you set the tone for the day. Now, get ready to take on the day by setting aside roughly an hour before 9 AM at your study table. This habit will build subconscious confidence and reduce stress on exam day.

First Sitting: QA Sessions

From 9 AM to 12:30 PM, focus on practice questions for the JEE Mains or Advance. These questions should cater to all three subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or focus on strengthening your weaker subjects. This period mirrors the actual exam schedule, so maintain full focus and effort during this time.

The Noontime Gap

Following this intense session, take a break to have your lunch, or if you haven't had it in the morning, you can skip to the next reading session. Spend the next 1.5 hours (from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM) reading your NCERT books or notes on Inorganic or Organic Chemistry, depending on your personal priority.

Tackling Your Favorite Subject

From 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, indulge in your favorite subject. For example, if you're strong in Physics, dedicate this period to it. Be aware that post-lunch, many students tend to feel drowsy, so stay alert and focused. This period aligns with the timing of the JEE paper-2 in the afternoon, so concentration is key.

The Late Afternoon Session

From 6 PM to 9 PM, it's time to dive into Mathematics. Focus on theory and practice questions to bolster your understanding. Take a short 15 minutes break for a dinner. After dinner, from 9:15 PM to 10 PM, revise Physical Chemistry formulas and practice a few questions. Spend 45 minutes on this subject to keep it manageable.

The Night Session

Finally, from 10:15 PM to 1:00 AM, prep for the remaining subjects. If you're left with Organic or Inorganic chemistry, focus on that along with revising the theory of the subject you're studying. Ensure you complete any outstanding theory or questions that align with your preparation plan. End your day with a deep, restful sleep of 6-7 hours.

This routine is not a one-size-fits-all model; customize it to your strengths and preferences. Consistency and determination are the keys to success. Don't get demotivated if you find it challenging to stick perfectly to the schedule. Aim to follow it as closely as possible, and in the long run, this will ensure you success in your IIT examinations.

Remember, patience and persistence are your allies. Tackle the stress of syllabus completion, question-solving pressure, and test series scores with a calm and focused mind. With the right preparation, you will prevail in the IIT exams.

Thank you for your dedication and effort. I will update this plan regularly and hope to share more resources on my YouTube channel, where I will offer a free complete course on Physics. Keep following for updates!

Warm regards,
