While IIT BHU offers some basic facilities for research, the actual usability of these facilities is questionable. My master's experience at ISM Dhanbad contrasts sharply with IIT BHU. ISM Dhanbad had no such invisible red tape in the usage of equipment, and its central research facility, although relatively new, outperformed that of IIT BHU in terms of efficiency and accessibility.

For prospective PhD students, a thorough research on your guide's past performance and the time taken by his other students to complete their PhDs is recommended. If the answers are not satisfactory, it is advisable to consider joining a National Institute of Technology (NIT) instead of an IIT. Remember, an IIT on a certificate does not guarantee quality research and academic environment.
