Admissions Procedure to IIIT-H: Understanding the JEE Mode Process

Understanding the Admission Process at IIIT-H

IIIT-Hyd (IIIT-H) is renowned for its rigorous selection process, specifically tailored for the JEE Mode of admissions. This process primarily targets undergraduate programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). To ensure a comprehensive understanding, let’s break down the admission procedure and requirements for these programs.

Admission Through JEE Main Score

Interested candidates can apply for admission to IIIT-H through JEE Main 2022 scores. This mode of admission is designed for several four-year undergraduate programs. Candidates can check their eligibility and the application process on the institute's official website for more detailed information.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Candidates must have completed their Class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry by July 2022. Their JEE Main 2022 score is a crucial component of the application process.

Application is made via the IIIT-H admissions portal. Reporting JEE Main 2022 percentiles is mandatory. The application portal opens on July 23, 2022, and closes on September 1, 2022, at 5:00 PM IST. The application fee is Rs. 2000/- and is non-refundable, with a reduced fee of INR 750 for female applicants to cover operating costs.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the JEE Mode of admission, candidates must have appeared for the JEE Main 2022 exam. The total percentile is a must for application. In case of multiple attempts, the best percentile among the attempts is considered. Ties among applicants are resolved by considering Maths, followed by Physics, and then Chemistry percentiles.

If there are still ties, the applicants receive the same rank, and they are treated on par. Class XII marks do not affect the ranking and seat allocation.

Diversity Initiative

IIIT-H aims to promote diversity among its student population. In an effort to increase gender diversity, the institute targets at least 25% of students in the JEE mode to be girls. Female applicants whose JEE Main score is in the top 1 percentile are eligible for seats in the Diversity Pool. All other female applicants are eligible for the Common Pool.

Female applicants in the Common Pool are only considered for available seats after the Diversity Pool has been filled.

Seat Allotment Process

IIIT-H follows a well-defined seat allotment process for the JEE Mode. The program has 100 seats in the CSE program and 70 seats in the ECE program. These seats are divided into two pools:

Common Pool: 75 seats. Diversity Pool: 25 seats.

Candidates in the Diversity Pool are selected based on their JEE Main 2022 score. Female applicants in the Common Pool are only considered after the Diversity Pool has been filled. A single rank list is used for seat allotment. Preference is given to the Diversity Pool candidates first, followed by female applicants in the Common Pool.

Financial Support

Financial assistance is available in the form of repayable loans to help students successfully pursue their academic goals. IIIT-H ensures a supportive and safe environment for its students.

Preference Selection Process

Candidates must indicate their program preferences carefully. There is no sliding after the last round of allotments. Only seriously interested candidates should list their preferred programs, with the first preference being strongly advised.

Conclusion

Admission to IIIT-H through the JEE Mode requires careful planning and attention to the detailed requirements. Understanding the eligibility criteria, application process, and seat allotment process is crucial for a smooth and successful application. Prospective students should visit the IIIT-H official website for detailed and updated information.
