Many of us strive to make a meaningful impact through our charitable donations. Whether it's supporting an orphanage in Uganda or finding a deserving beneficiary to receive a generous gift, the purpose remains the same: to make a difference. In 2016, we had the privilege of working with a former boy soldier from the LRA army in Uganda. He and a handful of others established an orphanage that supports 28 orphans by providing food, clothing, and education. Their efforts, though commendable, often face challenges due to the lack of regular funding. This instance underscores the importance of consistent financial support and innovative approaches in addressing such needs.

The orphanage operates with minimal external revenue, relying on casual labor and small donations to sustain its operations. To ensure the ongoing success of this initiative, my team and I have been working with Aviation Without Borders to provide water filters and negotiate with the local school for monthly installment plans. Despite these efforts, the need for regular donations remains, especially to prevent food insecurity and support regular medical care.

When considering whom to support with large charitable donations, it's essential to broaden the scope beyond conventional causes. Consider exceptional elderly individuals who have profoundly impacted society but faced destitution in their later years. Stories like those of Nikola Tesla and Vincent van Gogh inspire us to recognize unrecognized heroes.

These individuals often are proud and independent, making it challenging to approach them for financial assistance. However, recognizing and supporting them can have a profound impact. By choosing these hidden gems, you can ensure that their contributions are honored and their needs are met, without overwhelming them.

A Strategic Approach to Finding Hidden Beneficiaries

Step 1: Outsource the Leg Work

Collaborating with individuals whose intelligence and life experience you trust can ease the process of identifying these hidden beneficiaries. Alternatively, you could engage a researcher or investigative journalist to help. Using your funds, this person can provide the necessary legwork to identify and verify the circumstances of potential recipients.

Step 2: Research Potential Recipients

The starting point for the researcher is to explore publications about individuals who have made significant contributions in their prime years and have since been forgotten. Focusing on individuals who are 65 and older is a good starting point.

Step 3: Assess Circumstances of Potential Recipients

The researcher should discreetly gather information on the potential recipient's current circumstances. If a candidate is currently lonely, helpless, and in poor health, they are likely the right person to support.

Step 4: Repeat the Process and Create an Infinite Loop

To disburse all available resources, a repeatable process must be established. The solution outlined above creates an infinite loop, allowing for continuous discovery and support of deserving individuals.
