Exam Success and Realities: My JEE Main Experience and Preparation
As a drop-out student, my journey in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is filled with dedication and hard work. This article delves into my experience of taking the JEE Main February 2021 and the results that surpassed even my bold expectations.
Preparation and Expectations
I have been intensely preparing for the JEE for four years, dedicating my time and efforts solely towards achieving my goal. Even with this extensive preparation, I never anticipated the impressive performance I delivered in the February 2021 JEE Main examination.
Enter 2021, and I faced the exam with a target set above 99.5 percentile, based on previous year trends and my mock test scores. However, I was thrilled to discover that my actual score was even better, with a remarkable 98.8846639 percentile. This outcome far exceeded my initial projections, taking me to the coveted 99.97 percentile, a significant milestone that I am immensely proud of.
Exam Day Overview
February 25th was the day of the exam, specifically the morning shift. The mathematics section was quite manageable, with some minor challenges here and there. Physics questions were straightforward, though one question required extensive calculations. In contrast, the chemistry section was considerably more challenging, with around 4-5 tough questions.
My performance left me feeling confident about securing a high score, aiming for between 260-270 marks. However, upon returning to my college, I discussed specific questions with my teachers, who informed me of my two significant errors. In physics, I made a silly mistake in a screw gauge question, confusing the diameter with the radius. In mathematics, I misunderstood a numerical question and committed a mistake while converting sine to cosine in an integration problem. Similarly, in chemistry, I made several simple errors.
Post-Exam Reflection and Results
Despite these mistakes, my overall score was 272, with individual subject marks of 91 in mathematics, 95 in physics, and 86 in chemistry, leading to a 96.6 percentile. While this was satisfactory, it was not the record I had hoped for. I was not entirely happy as the result did not align with the level of effort and hard work invested.
Despite this, I remain hopeful for future attempts. With an even higher target, I am confident in achieving even better results in the upcoming examinations.
