Experiencing the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program: GAPI Final Round
Transitioning from aspiring to selected pilot candidates, I had a positive experience with FTA's IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program selection process. One of the key stages is the GAPI (General Aptitude/Pilot) interview and final round. After successfully clearing the PILAPT (Pilot Licensing Aptitude Test), pilot hopefuls are called for the GAPI session, usually about a month later, based on their notification via email.
GAPI Session Overview
The GAPI session is designed to evaluate various skills, including leadership, teamwork, and fluency in the English language. The session starts with a group discussion. You will be divided into groups of 5-6 people, and each group will be given a case or scenario to discuss. This is more of a logical discussion rather than a debate. The key is to present strong, valid points, and engage effectively with your team members. This exercise helps the evaluators assess your leadership qualities, team dynamics, and communication skills.
Group Activity: Case Discussion
Once the group activity is completed, the results are announced on the spot. This evaluation forms the basis for the next stage, which is the final interview.
Final Interview
The final interview is a rigorous assessment of your communication skills, knowledge about aviation, mental math skills, and your passion for the aviation industry. The panel typically consists of 2 captains and 1 HR.
Common Interview Questions
Why Indigo? Why aviation? Why FTA? Discuss your interest in aviation and your knowledge about the aviation industry. Test your mental math skills with questions such as speed, distance, time, percentage, and fuel consumption. The goal of the interviewers is to understand your curiosity, passion, and knowledge about flying and the aviation industry. By showcasing your depth of understanding and enthusiasm, you stand a better chance of making it through the selection process.
Preparation Tips
To excel in the GAPI session and the final interview, it's crucial to be well-prepared. Here are some tips:
Stay professional in your dress and demeanor. Attend to seminars, webinars, and networking events related to aviation to enhance your knowledge. Practice mental math and logical reasoning to improve your problem-solving skills. Research and understand the company culture, mission, and values of Indigo and FTA. Prepare a compelling and concise story that demonstrates your passion for aviation. In conclusion, succeeding in the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program’s GAPI final round requires thorough preparation, a clear understanding of the aviation sector, and a genuine passion for flying. By following the guidelines and tips provided, you can enhance your chances of securing a spot in this prestigious program. Best of luck!
