Finding My Udaan: A Journey Through Self-Realization and Overcoming Adversity

Finding My Udaan: A Journey Through Self-Realization and Overcoming Adversity

When we delve into our self-realization, we often wonder: if my life was made into a book, what would be the title and cover design? For me, the journey of self-realization has been a blend of struggle, triumph, and a deep understanding of who I am.

My Humble Background and Early Struggles

Growing up in a humble Background, I often heard the phrase, "Having a clubfoot sucks!!" This was not just a literal statement about my physical condition but also a metaphor for the challenges I faced. I was not allowed to dream big, nor was I encouraged to go anywhere unless accompanied, and even then, it was with a brother who serves as my bodyguard till date. It was a constant battle of proving to others that I was capable, and that my dreams were not just aspirations but a reality within my grasp.

Self-Realization Through Titles and Dreams

One morning, as I was writing in my diary – a ritual that starts and ends my day – it struck me to think about titles for my life story. I listed down several ideas, including:

Ik Ldki Pagli Si – A title that reflects my struggle and the label that was given to me. Over Confidence KI DUKAN – A play on words to challenge the perception of my over-confidence. Ik Pyari Si Kavita – A gentle reminder to find the beauty in life. Samudra Si Gehri – A deeper insight into the vastness of my dreams and aspirations. Idai Ka Ghar – A home in my dreams that reflects my growth and resilience.

Despite these ideas, I couldn't settle on one, until an action by a sparrow crossed my path. The bird's presence was a reminder that I am not so small or insignificant. It was a pivotal moment that led to my chosen title:

Sapno Ki Udān – This title speaks of the journey of dreams and reaching for the heavens, symbolizing the resilience and aspiration that defines my life.

Personal Tales and Overcoming Adversity

I come from a background where dreams were often curtailed. My childhood aspirations did not align with the common paths of becoming a doctor, engineer, or pilot, due to the belief that such careers were outside my means. I was also regularly teased by my relatives for being dusky-skinned. Additionally, my innate humor was not fully recognized, making me often the butt of jokes. All these obstacles did not define me; instead, they fueled my determination to rise above them.

Challenges and Triumphs

Despite the challenges, I never let these obstacles stop me from thinking big. I remained steadfast in my resolve to achieve my dreams and prove people wrong. Even now, my brother continues to act as my protector, but my spirit remains unbroken. I have proven time and again that with determination and hard work, anything is possible. Every small achievement is a giant step towards my larger goals.

Self-realization is a journey of discovering oneself through minimalistic yet profound events or ideas. It is a realization that anyone, at any time, can experience. It is a call to open ourselves to the beauty of our inner self and to embrace the journey of self-discovery.

Khud ko jano, apse pyāra insan, is duniya me koi nahīn hai...

Conclusion

As I conclude this reflection, I want to invite you to share your moments of self-realization. What are your stories of overcoming adversity and finding your Udān? I am confident that each of us has experienced these beautiful moments of growth and transformation. Let's celebrate them and continue to inspire each other on our journey to self-realization.
