Free Study Material for IIT-JEE Prepared by A Rank Holder
Preparing for the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) requires accessing the right textbooks and resources. Here, I share the free study material that helped me clear the JEE Advanced 2018 with an All India Rank (AIR) of 683 and 258 marks in JEE Main. This guide should help you navigate the vast array of available resources and understand what materials I found most effective for my preparation.
Physics
For physics, I relied on a combination of free and paid resources. Here are the materials I used:
Cengage Series: This series covers a wide range of topics and is known for its comprehensive content. Although I didn't follow all the books, parts of Cengage Physics were used for reference and deeper understanding. H C Verma: H C Verma's books are widely recommended for their problem-solving approach. I used Volume 1 and 2 as supplementary reading. NCERT: National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) books are a must for establishing a strong foundation. I ensured that I covered all chapters in the NCERT books thoroughly.Chemistry
In chemistry, the following materials were important for my preparation:
NCERT (Inorganic and Organic Chemistry): I found the NCERT books to be fundamental for understanding the basics of inorganic and organic chemistry. MS Chouhan for Questions: I relied on MS Chouhan's book for solving a large number of questions for practice. Previous Year Question Papers: Practicing past year's question papers is crucial for familiarizing yourself with the pattern and style of questions asked in the exam.Mathematics
For mathematics, the following resources were helpful:
Cengage G Tewani: I found Cengage Mathematics to be extensive and well-structured, especially for calculus, coordinate geometry, and algebra. NCERT Exercises: I made sure to strengthen my basics by solving all exercises from the NCERT book. DPP (Daily Practice Problems) and CPP (Comprehensive Problem Practice): These modules from reputable coaching institutes provided ample practice and helped in solving a variety of questions.Additional Resources and Tips
In addition to the above resources, I used the following materials:
Previous Year Question Papers: Common for all three subjects. I focused on these in the final stages of preparation. Resonance Material: I used some materials from the Resonance Institute for in-depth learning. CISCO Coaching: I took test series from respected coaching institutes for further practice and to get a feel for the exam environment.Lastly, the key to success is seriousness, confidence, and consistent practice. At the end of the preparation period, I would recommend focusing on one book for each subject and attempting to solve all questions multiple times. Consistent practice and thorough preparation are the keys to a high score on the JEE.
