From STEM to Storytelling: A Passion for Authorship and Societal Reflection
My writing journey began in the world of science, but over the years it has evolved into a rich tapestry of storytelling and societal commentary. Here, I delve into my current projects and reflect on the impact of my writing, both to entertain and to provoke thought on important societal issues.
Exploring the Layers of My Writing
Currently, I am engrossed in a diverse array of writing projects, each tapping into different genres and themes. I co-authored Unyielding Devotion, a novel with Eunice Hung, blending post-scarcity science fiction with theocratic pornography. My work is multifaceted, reflecting a blend of genres such as detective noir, science fiction, and urban fantasy. I also supervise the production of a series of new books, including London Under Veil, a contemporary urban fantasy that combines elements of Harry Potter, The Matrix, and Tom Clancy.
My plans are expansive, spanning genres and topics. In the pipeline are the continuation of Black Iron, exploring a far-future magical realism novel, and an anthology of supernatural shorts, both co-authored with my Talespinner. Additionally, I am working on a contemporary murder mystery, also with Eunice Hung, and an anthology of short stories. My queue includes forthcoming works like the sequel to immechanica, Frozen Smoke, and many more.
The Heartfelt Appeal of Personal Writings
One of the most meaningful pieces I’ve written is a deeply personal narrative based on a journal my wife kept during her battle with a brain tumor. The journey of capturing her strength and resilience through words was initially for my friends and family, but it evolved into a book available as a PDF.
A journal kept during a brain tumor battle, later turned into a narrative. With the story being published as a freely accessible PDF, it has touched many lives, with copies available in various libraries, including local and cancer centers. The book became a way to honor her memory, conveying her courage and humor during a difficult time.
A Commitment to Societal Commentary
In addition to these varied projects, I have always endeavored to use my writing as a platform for societal commentary. Whether it’s addressing consumerism, materialism, or hedonism, I seek to provoke thought and inspire personal development through my work.
My love for societal reflection has led me to write over 146 books, many of which have been professionally published. These works cover a spectrum of topics, from textbooks for architecture students to educational monographs, all rooted in a desire to engage readers and challenge them to think.
My writing career began with professional texts, such as a collaborative textbook with colleagues on a physics course for architects. However, this was just the beginning. Over time, I expanded my comfort zone, venturing into books that were more personal and entertaining, such as essays on science and education.
The Audience and the Authenticity
The audience plays a crucial role in the authenticity of my writing. When I write deeply personal stories, such as the one based on my wife’s journey, I aim to be as honest as possible. Having an audience in mind helps create a narrative that resonates and connects with readers on a personal level. In the case of my wife’s story, I knew the closest people to her, such as her best friend and a close teacher friend, would be my immediate readers. Their interest and engagement were essential to make the story compelling and heartfelt.
By addressing societal issues and reflecting on personal experiences, my writing has become a vessel for both joy and reflection. Whether it’s through fictional narratives or personal accounts, my goal is to inspire thought, provoke discussion, and offer a window into the human experience.
This multifaceted approach to authorship not only satisfies my creative impulses but also serves a greater purpose. By blending science with storytelling and societal commentary, I hope to continue making a meaningful impact through my work.
