How to Crack the NEET PG Exam in Your First Attempt

Securing AIR 5 in INICET November 2024 just 5 months after completing an internship in May 2024 proves that cracking a Postgraduate (PG) entrance exam in your first attempt is nothing unachievable. By following a structured and positive approach, candidates can achieve their goals. In this article, I will share some key points based on my experience and strategies to prepare effectively for the NEET PG exam.

Positive Mindset is Key

First and foremost, maintain a positive mindset and self-belief. Believing in yourself will drive motivation and determination. Always tell yourself that you can actually make it happen. Start planning a sensible study approach early to ensure you study smart.

Utilize Your MBBS Years for Concept Building

During your MBBS years, focus on building strong concepts. Refer to standard textbooks as well as educational videos for a comprehensive understanding. Solving multiple choice questions (MCQs) simultaneously as you study each subject ensures that you practice both theoretical knowledge and problem-solving skills.

Effective Use of Internship

Internship is a golden opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Continue your MCQ solving practice and revision according to the field you are working in. This will make recall and application easier. Start focusing on PYQS (Previous Year Question Sets) subject-wise from the beginning of your internship.

Regular Test Series (GTS)

Mock test series are important for exam simulation. Start taking as many GTS as possible, especially during your internship. Consider taking at least 5 free mock tests from different platforms to get a well-rounded preparation. This will help you identify areas for improvement and get comfortable with the exam pattern and format.

Clearing Doubts and Strengthening Weak Areas

Whenever you encounter a doubt or a vague understanding about any concept, try to clarify it. This will boost your confidence. Address your weak subjects first and face the challenge instead of postponing it. Engage in academic brainstorming discussions with friends to stay motivated and enhance your understanding.

Efficient Note-taking and Revision

After each round of revision, concise your notes to create a comprehensive yet concise source of revision for exam time. Utilize your notes to make notes out of your previous notes for effective revision. Keep focusing on volatile points and revise them actively. Maintain a primary source but feel free to augment it with information from multiple sources to create more comprehensive and consolidated notes.

Avoiding Last-Minute Stress

Avoid introducing new material in the last month before the exam. Doing so can increase anxiety and disrupt your well-established knowledge. Trust yourself and be mentally prepared for the exam. The more confident you feel, the fewer your silly mistakes will be.

Final Day of Exam

On the day of the exam, trust your preparation and remain calm and confident. Your preparation strategy and MCQ solving skills are already integrated within you. Confidence will help minimize silly mistakes. Enjoy the journey and best of luck to all aspirants!
