If Guns Were Banned Tomorrow, Would You Give Them Up?
Imagine a world where you are suddenly and legally mandated as a slave. Would you accept your fate? No, certainly not, unless you happen to be a complete weakling or coward. The same logic applies if guns were banned tomorrow. I would be branded a terrorist immediately. Hence, the right to defend myself is not a privilege, but a fundamental right that makes me a citizen.
A Liberal Perspective on the Second Amendment
As a liberal, I support the entire Constitution, not just parts that align with my beliefs. I am not lumped in with the “gun-haters” on both the left and right. I support the Second Amendment (2A) because it protects my right to own and use weapons for lawful purposes. Just as I would not take away someone’s car because of a tragedy caused by a negligent driver, I refuse to blame gun owners for the actions of a tiny number of criminals.
Preserving Inalienable Rights
The Second Amendment did not grant a right; it ensured the government could not infringe on an inalienable right. If the amendment were repealed, it would allow government overreach that cannot be undone. I would not give up my firearms, and in fact, repealing the Second Amendment would only strengthen my resolve to maintain them. Amendments cannot be revoked; they can only be repealed. With that in mind, if liberals were to attempt to remove Second Amendment protections, it would highlight the importance of keeping those protections.
Reality Check: The Lack of Power to Ban Guns
Liberals often claim that they have the power to ban guns, but this is nothing more than a delusion fueled by a lack of real power, votes, and state backing. Any attempt to ban firearms through an illegal edict from a corrupt government would only result in backlash. Leaders like Joe Nadler and his gun ban lists, for instance, would be met with fierce opposition. Vets and cops across the USA would not meekly surrender their weapons.
The attempt to enforce such a ban would trigger a guerrilla and open warfare, with extreme bounties on political figures. The nation would literally erupt in resistance. Any claim to have successfully banned firearms would be met with laughter, and any enforcement would be met with a hail of bullets.
No, banning guns would not be possible without an illegal and oppressive government. Such a scenario is not only unrealistic but also highly unlikely.
