Is Bihar’s Mathematical Education the Best Among Indian States?
While the quality of a curriculum is crucial, ensuring that teachers are also educated is equally important. It's only recently that the Teachers Aadhar card became mandatory, which has led to better teacher attendance. Nevertheless, it's hoped that student attendance will follow suit soon.
A Mini Bihar in Kota
I'm not from Bihar, but I spent considerable time in Kota, a city known for housing a significant number of JEE and NEET aspirants. Among the surprising findings were students who already knew advanced JEE mathematics topics of class 11, such as trigonometry, logarithms, and other foundational topics. When asked, many of these students attributed this to the Bihar Board syllabus always being ahead of the CBSE and other state boards.
These observations led to the conclusion that perhaps Bihar's mathematical education might be the best among Indian states. However, recent news has highlighted Bihar Board's involvement in various scams, leading to uncertainty about the actual benefits of a more advanced syllabus and board rules.
Conclusion
While the Bihar Board's syllabus might be more advanced, the question remains whether this truly benefits students. The recent curriculum comparison between different boards highlights the need for transparency and accountability in educational systems. As technology and educational standards continue to evolve, it's essential to assess the effectiveness of these curricula in preparing students for future challenges, regardless of the board they follow.
