Is KG College of Arts and Science a Good College?
Having spent nearly 3 years (2021-2024) studying at KG College of Arts and Science (KGCAS), I can provide an honest assessment of this institution. While things may vary by department, here are the pros and cons I've experienced during my time here.
College Life
Pros
Placement: Placements are quite good. During my time, the highest package offered by companies like ZOHO was 6 LPA (Lakhs Per Annum). Safety for Women: The college does not tolerate any form of abuse against women.Cons
Poor Infrastructure: The college buildings suffer from numerous issues. Broken tiles, benches and substandard toilets are common. There is no proper place to sit outside of the classroom during breaks except at the canteen. Cost: While college fees are affordable, the food is expensive and the taste and quality are usually poor. College transportation fees, stationary products inside the college, and miscellaneous charges are often seen as excessive. You might feel as if you're getting robbed inside the campus. Security: There are strict entry and exit regulations. Playing music loudly in the car, going to the canteen during class breaks, and leaving your bike in the parking lot can result in harsh penalties. Security personnel can be harsh and aggressive. Retalling acts if you are late or outside the class during class hours. Staff Knowledge and Education: The teaching staff, on average, is just okay. Asking complicated questions from the syllabus might not get you the detailed answers you need. Additionally, non-teaching staff members can be quite rude, and placement support staff is similar in quality. Management: Management often fails to take action against staff or security personnel if complaints are made. Dress Code: This can vary significantly by department and can be influenced by the mood of the Head of Department (HOD). Events and Celebrations: Expectations might not match reality. There is no big auditorium, and outdoor events often take place in makeshift sheds that lack proper acoustics and seating. Drugs: While cigarette and alcohol consumption are uncommon, spitting and discarding Chouchous (oral gels) on floors, walls, and everywhere is rather common. Ragging: While the college does not have a ragging culture, conflicts do occur due to students with rowdy or political backgrounds. Exit Restrictions: Leaving the college without valid reasons is prohibited, especially during lunch breaks before 3:30 PM.Thank you for the 1,700 views.
