Is This Whole Mess with Brett Kavanaugh a Conspiracy to Stop Trump?
No! It’s actually some kind of weird ‘payback’ strategy from the Clintons for losing the 2016 election. At least that’s Kavanaugh’s theory. Congratulations, we just appointed a conspiracy theorist to the Supreme Court.
Did you even listen to Dr. Ford’s testimony or what? She answered this question in detail. I’m sure it’s easy to find her opening statement on YouTube.
How Would It Stop Trump?
The man is like a goddamn wildfire - you pour water on him and little pieces of flaming embers fly up and catch some other shit on fire.
No, this whole mess is about preventing a majority of strict constructionist justices on the Supreme Court (SCOTUS).
Kavanaugh Can’t Hide Behind Words
Republicans overplayed their hand—Democrats, women, and open-minded men called their bluff. They are doubling down on a losing hand. Today, Trump was laughed at—not by the rest of the world, but by his own supporters.
Chickens Are Coming Home to Roost
Sorry for all the metaphors—
The dirty tricks powerful men used in the past to cover up sexual assault are not holding up for them too well. Basta.
To Be Clear, I Don’t Think It’s Made Up
I believe that Dr. Ford is claiming assault because something happened in that room. I believe that Kavanaugh and the Republicans are doing what they can to keep the incident from being investigated—keep the FBI out of it because lying to or misleading the FBI is a felony. Dr. Ford wants the FBI involved for that very reason—raise the stakes and get people to tell the whole truth.
But for the sake of argument, let’s say the whole thing is a fabrication. Trump has gone out of his way to get rid of truth—agreed facts. He has “alternative facts.” He calls people liars. He spins his supporters in circles so much that they believe that everything coming from Democrats is a lie. He has done what he can to destroy any consensus—reducing politics to an exercise of raw power instead of the art of finding compromise and consensus. Wouldn’t it be somehow fitting that a President who abuses the truth continually has his Supreme Court nominee derailed by a fabrication? Poetic irony, if you ask me.
