Miracle Marks: How an 88 in 12th CBSE Board Went from a Pipe Dream to Reality
Yes, 88 marks in the 12th class CBSE board is considered very good. It typically reflects a strong understanding of the subjects and can open up many opportunities for higher education, including admission to prestigious colleges and universities. Generally, a score above 75 is seen as commendable, and 88 places you well above that threshold.
A Journey from Effort to Grace
I actually got the same marks in 12th... I felt like it was a miracle. I still believe that I had only about 60% of my effort, with the rest attributed to divine providence. Even as an average student, I realize that the key to success was a mix of dedication and external help. My mother used to teach me until 5th grade, ensuring that I got full A's and all. However, when my brother was born, my parents, especially my mother, had less time to focus on my studies. She would ask about my marks, but not much else. In 6th and 7th grades, I studied and managed to get around 83. In 8th grade, I struggled with the onset of the pandemic, dedicating more time to social media than to studies. The term 'One and Only Overrated 10th Boards' highlights my lack of interest in studies but the dilation of other subjects like social science and Sanskrit. My weak spot was mathematics, which I hated, but which I managed to pass with a 10 out of 40 in pre-boards, falling short of the pass mark. However, the easier question papers in my boards allowed me to score 81.6, which I consider a decent result.
The Turning Point
It was the arrival of 11th and 12th grades, the '2nd War'. I chose commerce with IP and faced a very strict teacher in 11th, barely managing to pass with 75. I studied only when there was a test or an exam, and during my pre-boards in accountancy, I barely passed with 27/80. I was always hoping for luck in my exams, reflecting my lower-than-average intelligence in those subjects.
When studying during holidays became my norm, I often found myself with only 4-5 days per subject, spending these days with the invaluable guidance of Rajat Arora Sir. He provided strategies, chapter lists, and daily updates to help pass with 50/80 marks. Even if he was sick, Rajat Sir would continue his videos on each chapter's MCQs and long answers, which made all the difference. This commitment from him motivated me to start studying sincerely, even though I hadn't touched a book in over 8-9 months.
Finally, the board exams came, and they were relatively easier. I felt like a rain in a hot, dry season when I saw the question papers. I owe a big thank you to Rajat Arora Sir, whose guidance led to my scoring 92.6, a result that pleased my parents and relatives.
A Lesson in Perseverance and Honesty
My story is one of effort and divine grace. Even if you get 60 or even 10, but if you got it honestly, it counts. These marks matter, but only to a certain extent. They are crucial for college admissions, but true success lies in striving for the best you can be, regardless of the outcome.
