My Ideal Era: Reflections on Human History

My Ideal Era: Reflections on Human History

I would choose to relive the decade of 1991-2000, the era when I achieved athletic greatness, if given the choice to travel through time. This period is a bittersweet memory, a time of my personal pinnacle marred by my decision to rest on my laurels. Despite the regret, it's the experience that shapes my unique perspective on human history. Would I relive other decades? No, for the world feels meaningless and offers no reason to reminisce. This is my life, my story, and people recognize me for my wealth, not my virtues.

The Old West Era: A Fantasy Come True

The romantic allure of the Old West era resonates with me. It's a period that promises hardship and challenges; yet, it exudes a true sense of freedom. In this era, strength, will to survive, and a touch of luck determine one's success. It's also a childhood fantasy come to life, where one can achieve anything purely by will and determination.

The 1970s: A Time of Vibrancy and Creativity

Next on my list is the 1970s. This era promised vibrant fashion, artistic expression, and cultural revolution. It was a time when the hippie movement and the music of the period brought a new wave of creativity and self-expression, and it's a timeless appeal that remains deeply captivating to me.

The 1950s: A Golden Age of Peace and Prosperity

If the Old West was about overcoming hardships, the 1950s hold a different charm. I would live in the 1950s, a period often idealized as a golden age of peace, prosperity, and happiness. This era lacked violence and hatred, offering a rich and peaceful neighborhood where happiness was the norm. From my observations since 1966, it's safe to conclude that sadness has dominated the generations. However, despite this observation, I have an overwhelming desire to experience the 1950s, a time when happiness was the common thread.

Now: The Best of Times

But alas, I would not choose to live in any era other than now. Life and the quality thereof have never been better than they are today. This is my time, a period of unparalleled advancements and opportunities. I was born for a time such as this, a moment where the future is full of promise and potential.

Ancient Norway: Unearthing History

Lastly, I would choose to live in Norway circa 600 AD. This era interests me profoundly, offering a chance to document and trace the religious, cultural, and oral histories of that time, including rituals, epics, mythologies, and philosophies. Christianity made a conscious effort to erase this part of the past, but it holds a special fascination for me, given that my family name and oldest known heritage originate from that time and place.

Each era offers its unique allure, a blend of opportunity and challenge. Whether it's the freedom of the Old West, the vibrancy of the 1970s, the peace of the 1950s, or the advancements of the present, the human experience is rich and varied.
