My Journey Through JEE Advanced: A Personal Story and Valuable Insights
My JEE Advanced experience was a rollercoaster of emotions, from the initial shock of realising my performance to the eventual acceptance of my place in the journey.
Initial Expectations and Reality Check
When I started matching the answer key after the JEE Advanced exam on May 27, 2019, I was stunned by the number of mistakes I had made. Initially, I was confident in my abilities and believed I could secure around 160 marks, an expectation that was far from the reality. The final results, showing 129 marks with CR (Combined Rank) 9036, was a hard pill to swallow, especially considering my dream was to be among the top 3000 ranks.
Despite the disappointing marks, I decided to pursue an admission in IIT Kanpur with Chemical Engineering. The environment, parental support, and mental state played crucial roles in achieving one’s desired rank. It is important to remember that while preparation is key, so is managing stress and staying focused.
A Disappointing Start to the JEE Advanced
My experience with the JEE Advanced was both easy and scary at the same time. Being well-prepared made the day seem much easier, but the fear of failure still lingered. It is crucial for students to prepare themselves thoroughly, as it can significantly impact their performance.
Given my own experience, I can confidently say that self-satisfaction is priceless. The sentiment of, 'If only I had studied a bit more, I could have done better,' is common but unhelpful. Rather than dwelling on what could have been, it is essential to focus on what one can do in the present.
Python code would be appropriate here to show how to handle data efficiently, and it can be integrated as follows:
def jee_analysis(marks): if marks 160: return "Highly competitive rank" elif 120 marks 160: return "Moderately competitive rank" else: return "Not up to par"
My personal motto for students is to:
1. Prepare diligently and thoroughly for the day of the exam.
2. Accept the results and strive to do better in the future.
3. Focus on self-satisfaction and personal growth rather than external validation.
Adequate Preparation Can Alter the Outcome
After a stressful JEE mains experience, I found some level of success in JEE Advanced, with 191 marks out of 396, including 81 in chemistry. This score, while disappointing, sets the stage for future ambitions and plans to drop a year and prepare further. It is important to stay positive and certain about one's future, regardless of the current situation.
Key Points to Remember:
The environment, parental support, and mental state are crucial in achieving desired results. Self-satisfaction and acceptance are key to moving forward. Preparation is fundamental, but personal growth and determination are equally important. Conclusion
While my journey was filled with challenges and disappointments, it also taught me valuable lessons. It is important to focus on preparation, accept results gracefully, and always be grateful for what one has achieved. This approach not only helps in achieving goals but also in maintaining a positive attitude.
