My Journey to West Bengal's Premiere Medical Colleges: From NEET 2018 to Dream Institution

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2018 Scores and Aspirations

My NEET 2018 score was 522, which put me in the general category with an All India Rank of 14,113. Achieving this score was no small feat, as it reflects a thorough preparation and rigorous study period. This score was a significant milestone, but my aspirations far exceeded mere numbers. I dreamt of being associated with IPGMER SSKM hospital, a third-choice for me, knowing its prestigious standing in West Bengal.

First Counseling - IPGMER SSKM Hospital

The first counseling session was a defining moment for me. With IPGMER SSKM hospital being my third choice, this college was not the first in my heart but held a special place. I was determined to pursue my medical studies here, as it is the third-best medical college in West Bengal. While it was not my top choice, it was my dream come true. I was fortunate enough to get allotted to this illustrious institution, and I felt extremely blessed to be a part of it.

Second Counseling - BCU and KMC

Unfortunately, my journey did not stop there. Due to the specific procedures and constraints, I opted not to upgrade my allotment after the first counseling. So, the second counseling came into play. At this stage, the colleges allotted to me were Burdwan Medical College (BCU) and KMC, Calcutta (KMC) NRS. After the second counseling, I was allotted to Burdwan Medical College (BCU), which, while not as prestigious as IPGMER, still carries a strong reputation in the medical field. Following the second counseling, Calcutta National Medical College (KMC) NRS also showed up on my allotment list.

Reflecting on my journey through the counseling process, I realize that having a clear goal and consistent effort towards achieving it can lead to unexpected but fulfilling outcomes. My focus on IPGMER SSKM hospital was unwavering, and I was delighted to secure a spot there.
