My SSC CGL 2022 Tier-1 Preparation and Reflection

My SSC CGL 2022 Tier-1 Preparation and Reflection

In my preparation journey for the SSC CGL 2022 Tier-1, I experienced a mix of dedication, strategic planning, and moments of relaxation. This article provides insights into my preparation phase, performance in the exams, and reflections on the entire process.

Preparation Phase

I completed my graduation finals in early June 2022. By July, I started preparing for the CGL 2022. Despite missing the completion of my mathematics syllabus, I felt confident due to the high vacancies and previous cut-off scores. The prelims cut-off in 2021 was 130, and I consistently scored this in my mocks, reducing the stress surrounding the exam.

Exam Day

On the exam day, my math paper was the toughest, according to some of the tutors I followed. I made one silly mistake in reasoning and around 2-3 in English. I was aware I would pass, but the futility of my last 10 days of preparation was a pointed frustration.

The answer key was released on December 17th, and I managed to secure a decent score, which kept me motivated to continue with my preparation for the mains.

Mains Preparation and Reflection

With my attention shifting to the mains, my primary focus was to complete the mathematics syllabus. Over the following month, I dedicated 12-14 hours to mathematics every day, ensuring the completion of the syllabus. Afterward, I shifted focus to the other subjects.

Like many examinees, I did not repeat the mistake of the preliminary exam in the closing days before Mains. I utilized the time for revision, which proved crucial. I felt I gave my best, as opposed to the preliminary exam where I was not entirely satisfied with my performance.

Exam Day and Performance

The mains exam took place on March 26th, a particularly tough shift for many participants. Here are my scores for each section:

Mathematics: 90/90 Reasoning: 78/90 English: 119/135 (2 silly mistakes) General Knowledge: 26/75 Total: 313/390 Computer: 26/60 Typing: 2003

I was elated with the answer key release, and my scores met my expectations, reinforcing my belief in the preparation.

Reflections and Future Prospects

With my OBC category, I am hopeful for a 4600/4200 grade pay post. The journey was challenging, but I took away valuable lessons about the importance of consistent preparation and avoiding last-minute impulsive decisions. I have a sense of accomplishment and hope the final result will be positive.

As for the future prospects, my focus remains on continuous learning and improvement, keeping an eye on the SSC notifications for further opportunities.

Overall, the preparation for the SSC CGL Tier-1 was a combination of hard work, strategic planning, and maintaining mental agility. It's a reminder that the key to success is not just about textbooks but also about staying motivated and focused.
