NIOS Students and CLAT 2019: Understanding Eligibility and Application Process

Eligibility Criteria for NIOS Students
Yes, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) students can appear for the CLAT 2019 as long as they meet the eligibility criteria set by the participating law schools. To be eligible, NIOS students must have completed their 10 2 education with a minimum percentage generally around 45 for general category and 40 for reserved categories. Since NIOS is recognized by the government of India, students from NIOS can apply for CLAT if they fulfill these educational requirements.
UG Programme Eligibility for CLAT 2019
For the undergraduate (UG) programme, there is no upper age limit for the CLAT 2019. As for the minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (10 2), candidates must have secured:
45% for candidates belonging to the Unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories 40% for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categoriesCandidates who are currently appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April 2019 are also eligible to appear in CLAT-2019. However, they must produce evidence of having passed the qualifying examination by the time of admission. Without this, they will lose their right to be considered for admission.
The result of the qualifying examination will need to be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, as failure to do so will make them ineligible for course admission.
Tie-Breaking Procedures in CLAT-2019
In case of a tie in marks, the tie-breaking procedure is as follows:

For the postgraduate (PG) programme, the minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. Hons./any other equivalent exam) will be:
55% for candidates belonging to the Unreserved/OBC/SAP and other categories 50% for candidates belonging to SC/ST categoriesCandidates must have passed or be appearing in the final semester/final year examination of the qualifying examination on the date of their admission. Those who have appeared in the qualifying examination may submit their final results within the time frame prescribed by the respective university/institute to secure provisional admission.
