The Indian Army Cadet College (ACC) is designed to groom individuals who have completed their higher secondary education and aspire to become commissioned officers. This institution offers a unique and comprehensive training experience. However, it's crucial for prospective cadets to understand the educational requirements, especially for those who have already graduated.
Overview of ACC Academy
The main objective of the ACC is to prepare cadets for a career in the Indian Army. The training program at ACC spans three years, integrated with a bachelor's degree. This comprehensive training is supplemented by an additional year at the Indian Military Academy (IMA).
Applying for Commission in the Indian Army
Cadets can opt for different pathways to enter the Indian Army. If one is below 24 years old, they can apply for a commission through the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination. Successful candidates would then undergo 18 months of training at the IMA or 11 months at Depot of Officers Training Academy (OTA).
Alternatively, to become an officer in the Indian Army, one can apply for ACC. After three years of training at the ACC Wing, cadets will spend one year at the IMA, similar to NDA cadets.

The minimum educational qualification for ACC is 10th standard, also known as 102. As a result, successful cadets will earn two degrees: one from the ACC and another from the IMA.

The ACC is seen as a feeder institution to the IMA, similar to the National Defence Academy (NDA). However, the ACC differs in that it specifically caters to cadets based on age. If an army or air force personnel is selected for ACC, they must complete a 3-year course at ACC and a final year at the IMA.
