Passing Your CBSE Board Exam: A Real-Life Success Story
Hello, I had my boards this year in 2024. I pursued the PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) stream with English and Physical Education. Having scored 70 in my 12th boards, I can confidently say that you will definitely pass the CBSE board exam if you are attempting most of the papers, even with basic rote learning knowledge.
Strategies for Success
What you know properly should get extreme emphasis. Don't skip any questions, even if they seem tricky or you are guessing. There is no negative marking for multiple-choice questions (MCQs), so attempt all of them. Write down whatever you know, even if it doesn't seem like much, as long as it makes sense. By doing this, you have a higher chance of passing.
Paperless Case Study: My Own Experience
Science used to be my favorite subject. I was a straight A student in Science, a natural academic talent, if you will. However, in 11th grade, I started preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) but gradually lost enthusiasm for Science. Eventually, I stopped studying Science altogether and joined a substandard school where academic performance wasn't the priority. In 12th grade, I switched to preparation for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) and spent more than half of my time not studying Science.
With just two months left before the exams, I felt so overwhelmed by Science that I started searching online for tips on how to pass with minimal effort. I was even asking Quora if I would pass my boards. If you find yourself in a similar situation, here are some insights from my experience:
Subject-wise Breakdown
Chemistry: The only chapter I knew properly was solutions and a few naming reactions, electrochemistry, and chemical kinetics. The rest was just on a surface level. Despite this, I managed to score 24/70, just passing marks. Even with superficial knowledge, I did well.
Physics: I had only done the theoretical chapters for Physics and the first chapter, which gave me a basic idea of electricity. My score was 37/70.
Mathematics: I left calculus and probability completely. Still, I managed to score 34/80. The fact that I had almost none of the advanced topics covered, yet still passed, shows the importance of attempting every question rather than cramming specific knowledge.
Lessons Learned
During the year of preparation, I realized that if I had secured almost 40 marks in Physics by just one night of studying, the potential to get better marks is immense. Similarly, for Mathematics and Chemistry, studying with even one or two months can significantly improve your performance.
My post-12th reflections led me to focus on Science again, and over time, I fell in love with the subject once more. This experience teaches us that being scared is not a valid excuse for not succeeding. With the right mindset and effort, you can not only pass but also achieve high marks in your CBSE board exams.
Final Word
Don't be afraid, you can pass your CBSE board exams with great success. Use this experience as a foundation to approach your exams with confidence and determination. All the best! You've got this!
