Undergraduate (MBBS) Programs

Academically, the college is not in the best of standards. Students are mostly left to their own devices for most of the academic stuff. The preparation for NEET PG is difficult due to the lack of in-person classes. Instead, you will have to rely on online materials or SKY-DAMS. Your internship at R.C.S.M. GMC is akin to doing JRship; you have to work hard like a JR1 as you are the first point of contact for patients. While it may seem gloomy, the experience can be fruitful as you will see a great variety of patients, which will enhance your clinical knowledge.

Postgraduate (PG) Programs

DNB Seats Only: Currently, the college offers only DNB seats and no MD/MS seats. However, as of 2022, MD/MS seats are available. Speciality Choices: If you want to pursue Obstetrics and Gynecology or General Medicine, R.C.S.M. GMC is a great choice. While this may be true, for General Surgery, you might not get much opportunity to perform major surgeries frequently. Pediatric DNB can be quite physically and mentally demanding, but it offers a wide variety of cases. Entertainment and General Medicine: DNB ENT is a great work experience, with the ENT department being one of the friendliest and coolest departments where you can get a nice work experience and patient exposure.

If possible, you should visit the casualty department of CPR Hospital and try to get a word with the CMOs working there. Most of them are usually R.C.S.M. alumnus who have recently graduated and can give you a better insight into the current scenario of R.C.S.M. Government Medical College.
