Reflections on My School Principal: A Student's Perspective
Is it common for students to have divided opinions about their school principal?
Introduction
It's not uncommon for school principals to be the subject of debate and discussion among students. In my case, I am as frustrated as 75% of my classmates about the current principal of our school.
Reasons for Dislike
Reason 1: Communication Discrepancies
One of the most frustrating experiences I had involved my sister, who was in a higher grade than I was. Due to an urgent situation, both of us needed to take a leave of absence. However, when my sister submitted a leave application, it was denied. In my frustration, my father attempted to intervene by visiting the principal. Instead of meeting with my father, a peon was assigned to handle our request, which was seen as inconsiderate and disrespectful.
The principal's lack of direct communication and the delegation of tasks to a less important staff member deeply affected my perception of him and his leadership, causing me to lose respect for him.
Reason 2: Unpopular Decisions
Apart from the communication issues, the principal has made some unpopular decisions, such as the change in school timings. Previously, our school hours were from 11:00 AM to 4:50 PM, which was considered conducive for juniors and seniors alike. However, the principal recently altered the timings to 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, which many students, including me, find inconvenient.
Furthermore, there is a significant bias towards students of his caste when it comes to giving opportunities in subjects like sports, dancing, and corporate positions. This has led to a perception of unfairness, which contributes to the frustration and dislike among students.
Conclusion
This principal's leadership and decision-making have clearly had a negative impact on the student body. Communication breakdowns, unfair treatment, and changes in school hours have all contributed to a climate of dissatisfaction among students. It's an important reminder for both students and educators to provide clear communication and a fair environment.
