Reflections on Two Years of NEET Preparation: A Journey of Challenges and Triumphs
Looking back, it is a journey filled with many ups and downs, marked by challenges and triumphs. My NEET preparation journey over the past two years has been a rollercoaster of emotions, thoughts, and experiences that have shaped my academic and personal life.
Class 11: Navigating Unacademy Kota OFFC
On June 28, which coincides with my birthday, I enrolled at Unacademy Kota OFFC, a decision that came after much deliberation and confusion over which coaching institute to join. The class had already begun three days earlier, and I remember the first day vividly. Nostalgic as I write this, I was extremely nervous but quickly adapted to the new classroom, the new people, and the new place. I followed a strict schedule of classes, self-study, and sleep.
I made some fabulous friends who always helped me with studies until NEET. Although I performed well on tests, I felt weak in Physics. This led me to focus more heavily on this subject, devoting more time to question practice, which eventually helped me improve. One notable challenge was when I fell ill and missed many classes. When I returned, catching up was a struggle, requiring me to study at the doubt counter, pull all-nighters, and attend regular classes early the next morning. This routine lasted for about a week or two before I finally completed my backlog, though not entirely satisfactorily.
The end of Class 11 was marked by a "full syllabus test," which I initially dreaded. Though my score in this exam was lower than usual, I felt a strange sense of accomplishment for challenging myself against the test. This test sealed my Class 11 journey, and while I felt that I did not live up to my expectations from myself, I regretted not pushing myself harder.
Class 12: The Transition to Advanced Studies
The start of Class 12 was marked by an orientation session, where I was filled with anxiety about managing both NEET and Board exams. The classes commenced the next day, and I was much more organized and determined than ever. While the transition was smoother compared to the previous year, I struggled with certain chapters of Physics and Chemistry, such as electrostatics, electrochemistry, and P-block, as I was studying them for the first time. Thankfully, I had excellent teachers who helped me, and these chapters gradually became more manageable.
The syllabus was completed on time, giving me enough time to revise Class 11 topics. However, I had forgotten much of what I had studied in Class 11, especially in the areas of Physics, which were particularly challenging. Reviving my knowledge, I realized the importance of thorough preparation. Prior to the Board exams, I spent a week each on English and Physical Education, as I had not paid much attention to them during the year. I also focused on the NCERTs for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as these were highly beneficial for NEET preparation.
After the Board exams, the real struggle began, with NEET just 45 days away. I resumed giving mock tests every two to three days, analyzing each test thoroughly to identify weak topics. Studying from my teachers again, I tried to improve my scores. Despite some lower marks in one test, I chose to heal from the trauma rather than dwelling on it, as the NEET day approached.
The NEET UG Chapter
The daunting day of NEET finally arrived, and as I say now, my anxiety knew no bounds. Negative thoughts raced through my head, but I kept calm and everything went well. The joy and satisfaction after the exam were immense. I have learned the value of hard work and its impact on both my family and myself.
These memories, both good and bad, are a testament to the journey of preparation and the lessons learned. The NEET preparation journey is a story of perseverance, dedication, and the realization of one's potential. The efforts put in during this period are well worth the immense satisfaction and the memories of the challenges overcome.
