Rising Intolerance in India: A Logical Conclusion and its Aftermath
Before we delve into the logical outcomes of the current situation in India, it's imperative to understand the current landscape. The present set of intellectuals, political parties, and media are in deep resentment and opposition towards Narendra Modi's leadership as the Prime Minister of India. This discontent stems from their perception that he is a common man who is part of the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), an organization they had previously targeted.
Identity and Advocacy in India
India, particularly its majority Hindu population, is now vocally and fiercely advocating their identity. Many Hindus who felt that their freedom of expression, culture, and basic rights were being violated under the guise of politics and secularism have now reacted strongly. This shift in sentiment can be attributed to various factors, including economic development, the desire to restore the cultural ethos of India, and a growing support for Hindutva.
These people have found their voice through various platforms, particularly social media, which has provided a medium for their expression and unity. This development, in my opinion, is long overdue and a positive turn of events. It marks the rise of a new India, one where people are asserting their identity and standing up for their rights.
The 'Rising Intolerance' Movement
The so-called 'Rising Intolerance' movement is a temporary phenomenon that will likely dissipate quickly once attention shifts to other issues. The Bihar elections, scheduled for November 8th, have brought this movement into sharp focus. Various politicians, media celebrities, and intellectuals have been using this as a tool to tarnish Modi and the ruling BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). Yet, this campaign has exposed the double-faced attitudes and hypocrisy of many individuals in these spheres.
Social media has further polarized the Indian masses, pushing them deeper into opposing camps. Anupam Kher's march, attended by thousands of people, is a clear indication that the masses have rejected this campaign and, by extension, the ruling figures who supported it. This backlash has also awakened Indians to fight for their identity and heritage.
Narendra Modi's Gains and the Future
From my perspective, Narendra Modi is likely to benefit from this false campaign. The sharp attack on one individual and one party has altered the public perception. If the BJP and Modi win the Bihar elections on November 8th, it will serve as concrete evidence that this selective targeting has failed.
For those who are concerned about the future of secularism or tolerance in India, it is important to acknowledge that these values remain strong. While there have been unfortunate incidents, the authorities must continue to punish guilty parties regardless of their community or party affiliation. The essence of India's identity is its diversity and inclusive values.
The positive aspect of this situation is the awakening of a stronger, more assertive India. People are standing up for their cultural heritage and identity, which is a promising sign for the future. This movement may be temporary, but it has set the stage for a more vibrant and unified India.
