Summer Holiday Plans: Where to Spend Your Vacation in 2023
As we approach the summer months, many of us are looking forward to a much-deserved break from the routine. For me, the coming year is packed with a mix of both domestic and international adventures, along with some home-based escapades. Let’s dive into my plans and offer some tips for making your summer holiday unforgettable.
My Upcoming Holiday Plans
I have quite a few vacation plans lined up this summer. After a rejuvenating week in Key West, I have a trip to the beautiful Azores in August and a cruise out of Florida in December. While the possibility of cancellations due to health concerns is always a concern, I’ve taken out cancel for any reason insurance for the Azores trip just to be safe. For the cruise, I’m not overly worried as it’s only a deposit. If anything goes wrong, I’ll either get it back or simply rearrange the trip for the following year.
Like many families, we normally take two two-week vacations annually. However, the pandemic disrupted our usual routine. This year, we’re planning a SAHH stay at home holiday – running our Airbnb from our peaceful cottage by the Medway River. June to October is our peak season, so we typically take our holiday in the winter – sometimes even for Christmas.
Next September, we have something truly special planned. We’re embarking on the amazing Scotland 500 drive – a thrilling journey around the coastline from east to west. Following this, we’ll spend a week in London and then return on the Queen Mary 2 from Southampton to New York.
This year, we’re excited to explore a luxury passenger liner for the first time, which adds an extra layer of excitement to our journey.
Summer Holiday Planning Tips
Planning a summer holiday can be a vast endeavor. It greatly depends on what you want to do and the type of vacation you are seeking. Here are a few broad guidelines to help you get started:
1. Consider the Destination
Hawaii: Hawaii is a fantastic choice for those looking for a tropical escape within the United States. Enjoy the beautiful beaches, clean cities, and a wide array of activities. From zip lining to exploring the Roaring Volcano on Hawaii, there’s something for every type of traveler. Also, don’t miss the Hana Road trip, a stunning journey through breathtaking landscapes, or the Sunrise in Haleakala mountain. Key West: Experience the charm and culture of Key West, known for its vibrant atmosphere, historical attractions, and delectable seafood. Azores: The Azores offer natural beauty, fascinating landscapes, and a rich cultural heritage. Spend your time exploring the islands, enjoying the breathtaking views, and engaging in outdoor activities.2. Focus on Health and Safety
Incorporate travel insurance as a safeguard against unexpected circumstances. Policies like the “cancel for any reason” and travel health insurance provide peace of mind. Stay informed about local health guidelines and requirements. A COVID test might be necessary for particular destinations, especially if you’re traveling internationally. Ensure that you and your family are fully vaccinated and up-to-date with required health measures for your chosen destination.3. Plan a Mix of Activities
Create a balanced itinerary that includes relaxation, exploration, adventure, and cultural experiences. Consider combining traditional holiday activities with unique local experiences to create a memorable journey. Leave some flexibility in your schedule to adjust based on the weather, interests, or any unexpected events.Whichever destination you choose, take a moment to reflect on the memories and experiences you’re about to create. Whether you spend your time on a luxurious ship, exploring Hawaii’s natural wonders, or enjoying a SAHH stay at home holiday, the anticipation and joy of planning a summer holiday make it a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
Conclusion
Plan ahead, be flexible, and stay open to new experiences. Whether you’re embarking on an international adventure or simply staying close to home, your summer holiday can be an enriching and enjoyable journey.
