The Rigorous Path to Cracking IIT-JEE: A Brutal Yet Rewarding Journey

Cracking the IIT-JEE is one of the most challenging goals in India's education system. It demands a significant amount of hard work, dedication, and determination. Here, I share some personal insights and experiences that might motivate you and offer useful tips for your journey.

Introduction and Motivation

Before delving into the nitty-gritty of my preparation journey, I wanted to show you some images of IIT Delhi. Witnessing its grandeur and the legacy it represents can provide a great deal of motivation as you embark on your own path.

Cracking the IIT-JEE was one of the most challenging things I have ever done. It required a lot of hard work, dedication, and determination. With such a daunting task in front of me, pushing myself every single day was a must. Despite moments of doubt and instances where I wanted to give up, my persistence paid off in the end.

The Most Challenging Moments

The Pre-Examination Panic

One of the toughest moments during my JEE preparation was right before a big test. This test was scheduled for a Sunday morning, and it was supposed to last three hours. However, I hadn't studied at all for the two weeks leading up to the test because I had been procrastinating. On Saturday night, just before the test, I realized how unprepared I was. Fear and panic began to set in because I knew that if I didn’t do something, I would get the lowest marks in the class.

So, I decided to stay up all night and study as much as I could. I reviewed all my books, notes, and practice problems. By the time I finished, it was 4 AM. I knew I needed at least some sleep, so I set my alarm for 7 AM to give myself three hours of rest. When the alarm went off, I felt exhausted but knew I had no choice. The test was at 8 AM, so I got up and headed to the exam hall. Even though I was really tired and struggled to concentrate, I gave it my best shot. To my surprise, I managed to score better than I expected. That night, I learned a valuable lesson about the importance of preparation and how much I could push myself when I needed to.

The Struggle with Mock Tests

Another challenging time during my JEE preparation was after I finished my 11th-grade syllabus. My coaching institute organized a mock test series where we had to take a test every day covering the entire 11th-grade syllabus. These tests were really tough, and I quickly realized how much more I needed to study. At first, I was doing very poorly in these mock tests, and my scores were really low. This led me to feel embarrassed because I was always at the bottom of the class, which made it difficult not to doubt my ability to crack the IIT-JEE.

Instead of giving up, I decided to work even harder. I started waking up at 4 AM every day to study. I found that I could focus better in the early morning when it was quiet and my mind was fresh. I would study from 4 AM until 8 AM, reviewing all the topics I was struggling with, and then take the test at 9 AM. Even though I was putting in all this extra effort, my scores didn’t improve much at first. It was frustrating, but I knew I couldn’t give up.

Finally, there was one last test in the series. By this time, I had almost lost hope of doing well. My confidence was really low, and I wasn’t expecting much. On the morning of the test, I decided not to stress too much. I just reviewed my short notes focusing on the key points and went into the test with a calm mind. To my surprise, I ended up getting the highest marks in that test. I couldn’t believe it! After weeks of struggling and doubting myself, I had finally done well. That day, March 26, 2023, became a turning point for me. Melvano is another app that can be helpful for practice, as they have a big collection of JEE-related questions where you can find similar questions in your exams.

Waking Up Early – Building a Routine

One of the hardest parts of my JEE preparation was sticking to a routine. I knew that if I wanted to succeed, I had to make the most of every day. Waking up early became a big part of my routine. I found that I could study better in the early morning when it was quiet and there were no distractions. However, waking up at 4 AM every day wasn’t easy, especially when it was cold and dark outside. To ensure I got up on time, I came up with a simple trick. I would set my alarm and then turn off the fan before going to bed. Without the fan, it would get warm, and it would be harder to stay in bed when the alarm went off. This trick helped me get out of bed even when I was really tired.

The Exam Day Experience

As the day of the JEE Mains exam got closer, I started feeling really nervous. I knew that all my hard work over the past months would be tested in just a few hours. The night before the exam, I couldn’t help but feel anxious. I kept wondering if I had done enough, if I had studied the right things, and if I would be able to perform well. But then I remembered that day in March when I had scored the highest marks in the mock test. That memory gave me the confidence I needed to calm down. I realized that I had done my best, and now I just needed to trust myself and my preparation.

On the day of the JEE Mains exam, I walked into the exam hall with a mix of anxiety and determination. The exam was tough, but I gave it my all. When the results were announced, I was relieved to see that I had done well enough to qualify for the next stage.

In conclusion, cracking the IIT-JEE was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It required a lot of hard work, sleepless nights, and pushing myself beyond my limits. There were many times when I felt like giving up, but I didn’t. If you are taking the same journey, remember that every moment of effort and sacrifice is worth it. A strong routine and self-belief can make a huge difference. Good luck!
