The Surprising Journey to Scoring 92 in CBSE Class 12th 2019: An Average Student's Triumph
When I scored 92 in my CBSE Class 12th exams in 2019, it felt like a miracle. At the time, I thought I had only put in about 60% of the effort, with the rest attributed to divine intervention. Despite starting as an average student, I have learned a lot about perseverance and the importance of finding methods that work for you.
A Typical Average Student’s Path
I used to be an average student, and I believe I still am one. My mother taught me until the 5th grade, and I scored full marks, all As, which made me feel accomplished. However, when my brother was born, my parents, particularly my mother, did not have much time to focus on my studies. Nevertheless, she would always ask about my marks. Between the 6th and 8th grades, I studied diligently, and I believe I scored around 83 in the 6th grade. But the 9th grade was dominated by the first war, or as some call it, the 'overrated' 10th boards examinations (CBSE Class 10).
The Overrated 10th Boards Exam
In the 10th boards, I did not have much interest in studying, but I managed to score an average, excluding the half-yearly and session-ending exams which were out of 40, and I would end up with around 20/40 or 25/40. I even failed in my math pre-boards with a score of 10/40, but managed to pass with 81.6 overall due to easier question papers compared to pre-boards. I would have given the pre-boards a difficulty rating of 11/10 and the final boards a rating of 3/10.
Success in CBSE Class 12th with Rajat Arora
Entering the second war, which was 11th and 12th grade, I chose commerce with I.P. (Internal Practical). Despite a very strict teacher, I managed to pass 11th with a score of 75. I studied only when there were tests or exams, and in my pre-boards, I scored 27/80 in accountancy, barely passing with 26 as the pass mark. After the accountancy pre-boards, I felt inadequate in English and Sanskrit, but I somehow managed science as well. I had a special interest in drawing hydrocarbon diagrams, which was the only thing I was excited about in science. However, I hated math with a passion.
During the holidays before the board exams, I managed to study for about 4-5 days per subject. A huge thank you to Rajat Arora Sir, who gave some invaluable help. He had strategies and resources to help us prepare efficiently. I closely followed his advice, and it significantly impacted my preparation. Before the board exams, my teachers would conduct many tests. This helped me to gain at least a basic understanding of each chapter, even if it wasn’t comprehensive. The actual board exams were much easier than expected, and the feeling was akin to a rain in a hot, dry environment. In the end, I scored 92.6. This result brought joy to my parents and relatives, but I am aware that these scores only matter for securing a spot in college, which was not exactly competitive. I want to convey that even if you score 60 or even 10, if you achieve it honestly, it counts.
Key Lessons Learned
Even as an average student, you can achieve great results. Consistency and finding a teaching method that aligns with your learning style are crucial. Additionally, making the most of your available resources, whether it be a tutor or online channels, can significantly boost your performance. I hope my story inspires you to focus on the process and not just the outcome. The journey is valuable, and achievements are not solely about the scores but the effort and determination behind them.
