Additional Resources and Strategies

Previous Years' Question Papers

Analysing past papers is crucial for understanding the exam pattern and familiarising oneself with the type of questions that may be asked. This can significantly improve your performance and manage your time effectively during the actual exam.

Mock Tests

Regular practice with mock tests is instrumental in time management, identifying weak areas, and gaining confidence. Taking multiple mock tests can provide insights into areas that require more focus and can help in improving your overall performance.

Study Strategy

Conceptual Understanding

Instead of rote memorisation, focus on understanding the core concepts. This will not only aid in retention but also in solving complex problems.

Regular Revision

Consistent revision of topics is essential for retaining information. Regularly revisiting topics can help in reinforcing your understanding and improving retention.

Time Management

Create a study schedule that allows for balanced preparation across all subjects. Allocating specific time slots for each subject can ensure that you cover all necessary topics without getting overwhelmed.

Insights from an AIIMS MBBS 2016 Topper: Sathvik Reddy

Sathvik Reddy, the AIR 1 of AIIMS MBBS 2016, shares his success mantra and preparation strategies.

Study Schedule

Sathvik studied regularly for about 5-6 hours a day after attending his regular school classes. After his classes ended, he dedicated additional time to self-study. On days without classes, he spent around 9-10 hours studying at home.

Exam Experience

He was quite confident about his preparation and found the paper to be easier compared to other medical entrance examinations. The questions were mainly from NCERT textbooks in each subject—Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. He was satisfied with his performance.

Subject Difficulty

Physics was his strongest subject, while Biology was a challenge. He found biological terms and diagrams difficult to memorise. However, he consistently worked on this weak area through repeated revision and highlighting important points in his textbooks.

Academic Background

Sathvik scored 10 CGPA in Class 10 at DPS Hyderabad and 98.8% in Class 12th Andhra Pradesh Board. In the AIIMS MBBS 2016 exam, he attempted 191 questions correctly out of 166, scoring a total of 157.66 marks.

Balancing Between State Board and Entrance Exams

Sathvik managed the balance between preparing for his state board exams and medical entrance exams without much trouble. He focused mainly on medical entrance exams and aimed to apply the same knowledge in both exams. Since the syllabus for both was similar, he did not make special efforts for his state board examination.
