Understanding the Holiday System for NDA Cadets

Being a cadet of the National Defence Academy (NDA) is not simply about vacation and leisure. The training regimen is rigorous and demanding, tailored to prepare future military leaders. However, there is a well-structured holiday system in place to ensure these cadets get some much-needed rest and recuperation during critical phases of their training.

The Vacation Period Post-Training Completion

After approximately 5 months of intensive training, NDA cadets are entitled to a vacation of around three weeks. This period is designed to give them a much-needed break from the demanding routine and also allows them to use the free railway warrants provided to them for travel back to their registered hometowns. This holiday serves as a crucial period for the cadets to bond with their families and recharge for further training phases.

The Regular Holiday Schedule

The holiday schedule for NDA cadets is structured to prevent burnout and ensure that they remain physically and mentally balanced throughout their training period. Here's a breakdown of the regular holiday provisions:

Sunday Evening: Outing Day

While Sundays can be seen as relaxation days for other individuals, for NDA cadets, it's an outing day. This does not mean that physical regimes are put on hold. Term Breaks

Throughout the academic year, NDA cadets also enjoy two term breaks:

1 Month Term Breaks in June and December

During the mid-year (June) and end-year (December), cadets are granted a break of approximately 1 month. This extended break allows them to take a more substantial rest and spend quality time with their families.

3-Day Nourishment Break

Between the regular term breaks, NDA cadets are given a 3-day nourishment break. This shorter break focuses on providing them the necessary rest and support to ensure they're well-nourished and ready to face the next part of their training.
